My preparations for Salesforce DEV 401

---- INITIAL DRAFT ----

Although I had worked on Salesforce for about 2 years, I still did prepare thoroughly for the exam.
I found the exam to be quite easy and just. The questions dont intend to confuse you and are very clear about the requirement.

It took me a week to prepare for the exam once i decided to get certified. I had a high fever 3 days before the exams and was in a soup since i already paid for the test. I however felt better lateron and frankly speaking it just took 2 days of dedication to clear the test.

If you really want to crack it just take leave for 2 - 3 days preferably clubbing it with weekends so you would be free for 4 to 5 days and do nothing else but study. You can take ocassional breaks setting alarms, and going out to have tea and all.

1) Check the STUDY GUIDE. Even though it doesnt explain much, it'll make u feel comfortable on how much u know and what all areas you've touched.

2) Force.com Developer Certification Handbook (DEV401): Siddhesh Kabe : Be thorough with this book and its test questions. If you have any doubts about any concept in this book, just google it and learn it. Even though a little old it still covers a very large portion. If you are a person with no exposure to Salesforce you should build the library management system app in this book since its very easy to understand unlike the Recruitment App in the Force.com fundamentals book which i found had a very kind of confusing functionality for a newbie.

3) Force.com Platform Fundaments : If you are a noob i.e know nothing about salesforce, you may want to build the entire recruting App following this book. Dont worry if you are not able to understand much. Just follow the procedures and build the app. Then go through the doc roughly once again and you may be able to realise what you had been doing.

4) Now once you have about moderate knowledge about all the concepts, you're ready to test yourself where you stand. Go through all the latest dumps available online, start with latest ones.
Dont worry if you're not able to answer many questions, even i made a lot of mistakes despite having almost 2 years of Salesforce experience. Most of the wrong answers were cause I didnt read the questions properly. Always take time and full concentration to read the questions cleary and understand the requirement. For all the wrong answers go through the concept and study well. There are a lot of dumps available. However I suggest you start with the latest ones v.i.z dumps uploaded in 2012 and then 2011 (Google Advance search) and make sure you read the comments regarding the dumps cause I found many links hosting wrong answers and questions not at all related to the certification.

I found a lot of questions coming from Dumps so Dumps surely are helpful. By this I mean the questions are related and not exactly same questions. So its no use if u literally memorise the Q&A's from Dumps.

Once you think you have a slight chance of cracking the exam just register for it(With the exam date 1 or 2 days in future). If you keep it pending you may not give it anytime soon. Just pay the fee and study hard. And remember 200$ is a big deal but still it's just money. So dont let the fear of losing the money stop you from giving the exam. All the best and the exam would be quite easy if you understand all the concepts covered in the books and dumps.
